Concise guides for installing, administering and customizing iBulletin.

Getting Started

iBulletin is designed for a conventional PHP hosting environment. Upload the files, create a database, run the installer, then configure your board from the Admin CP.

Installation

  1. Upload the iBulletin package to your web space.
  2. Create an empty MySQL/MariaDB database and user.
  3. Open the installer in your browser.
  4. Enter database and administrator information.
  5. Complete the installer and sign in to the Admin CP.

Board Settings

Use the System section of the Admin CP for board identity, registration behavior and other global settings.

Forums & Moderators

Create categories and forums from the Forums section, then assign moderators where needed.

Members & Groups

Member administration covers user records, groups, ranks and bans.

Themes & Templates

Customize presentation through the theme/template system while keeping application behavior in the core.

Plugins

Optional extensions are managed separately from core forum features.

Upgrading

Always back up the database and files before moving between development builds.
